After rumors and reports, Sony and Naughty Dog have finally announced The Last of Us Part I, a remake of the original 2013 game. This from-the-ground-up remake will come to PS5 in 2022, with a PC port planned as well. The Last of Us Part I remake was announced during Summer Game Fest, where the game was shown in action. When is The Last of Us Part I release date?
The Last of Us Part I will launch for PS5 on September 2, 2022, as a console exclusive. It will not come to PS4. A PC port is also in development but it’s unclear when it will launch.
Is there a Last of Us Part I trailer?
There is! During Summer Game Fest 2022, Naughty Dog unveiled the upcoming remake with a stunning trailer, which you can watch above. As part of the reveal, Naughty Dog co-president Neil Druckman went into detail about the upcoming remake’s features.
Sadly, the game itself was leaked hours before the official unveiling, taking the wind out of Naughty Dog’s sails. Summer Game Fest host Geoff Keighley acknowledged the leak during the reveal above.
Who is The Last of Us Part I developer?
The Last of Us Part I is being developed by Naughty Dog.
While development was reportedly helmed by Visual Arts Service Group at first, the reins have since been handed over to Naughty Dog. In a PlayStation Blogpost, it was revealed that Druckmann will not direct the remake, passing “the directorial baton” to Game Director Matthew Gallant and Creative Director Shaun Escayg instead.
What are The Last of Us Part I features?
The Last of Us Part I remake will run at 60 frames per second and will include a slew of enhancements.
Naughty Dog said The Last of Us Part I will feature “modernized” gameplay, control enhancements, and a plethora of accessibility options, just like The Last of Us Part 2. We also know the game boasts a visual upgrade, running at 60 frames per second. This package includes the Left Behind prequel story, as well.
The trailer itself featured 4K footage, but oddly enough, the PlayStation Blog doesn't outright confirm the game’s resolution. Though, we assume it’ll be presented in 4K.
The Last of Us Part I will include DualSense features tied to haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, as well.
