This Handheld Gaming PC Mixes the Best of a BlackBerry and Nintendo DS
It’s got a clamshell design and a QWERTY keyboard just like on old BlackBerry phones.
Teased in September, we now know just a little bit more information about Ayaneo’s upcoming Flip KB handheld gaming PC.
From the Flip KB’s website: Ayaneo confirmed the keyboard-equipped clamshell handheld has a 7-inch IPS display with 1080p resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The handheld’s dual-screen sibling, the Ayaneo Flip DS, also has the same size screen. Both handhelds run Windows.

The Ayaneo Flip KB isn’t the handheld maker’s first design to feature a keyboard — that accolade goes to its recently announced Ayaneo Slide, which launched on Indiegogo last year. The Ayaneo Flip KB will appeal to those who want the clamshell design, while the Slide targets those who prefer a Sidekick-esque gaming handheld.
Ayaneo says the design has an “innovative replaceable grip panel design” and features a 45Wh “high-capacity” battery. The handheld is also designed for improved heat dissipation. Furthermore, the Flip KB has “HyperSound Panoramic Stereo” speakers.
There’s a ton of button customization on the Flip KB. In addition to ABXY button swapping, there’s an x-axis linear motor and six-axis gyroscope, the joysticks are hall-sensing ones, and so are the triggers. The sensitivity of the triggers can also be adjusted.

Ayaneo could differentiate itself from the competition by offering an OLED display, considering its other handhelds already take advantage of that.
According to Ayaneo, the Flip KB has an AMD Ryzen 7 7840 chipset with a 2.7GHz Zen 4 CPU consisting of 8 large cores and 16 threads, AMD Radeon 780M graphics (based on the RDNA 3 architecture) or AMD Ryzen 7 8840U chipset, up to 64GB of LPDRR5X RAM, and supports M.2 2230 PCIe 4.0 SSD storage.
Storage and RAM configurations include: 16GB of RAM + 512GB of storage, 32GB of RAM + 2TB of storage, and 64GB of RAM + 2TB of storage.
“The CPU performance has been significantly improved in both single and multi-core, resulting in faster operation and astonishing gaming experience.” Ayaneo’s CEO, Arthur Zhang, said in its official Discord that the keyboard would be similar to the traditional BlackBerry keyboard. The Flip KB product page also states the keyboard has RGB. GAMING!
Ayaneo Flip KB and Flip DS Release Date and Price

The Ayaneo Flip KB was originally planned for release by the end of 2023, but after several teasers, it’s shipping starting in March. Orders will start at 7 a.m. ET. The Flip KB starts at an early bird price of $699 and the dual-screen Ayaneo Flip DS starts at an early bird price of $739.
