'Black Mirror: Bandersnatch' Easter Egg Ending Leads to "Nohzdyve" Game
Black Mirror: Bandersnatch is already sort of a video game, but it turns out there’s a second game hidden inside this Netflix choose-your-own-adventure experience. Intrepid fans recently discovered that achieving the right ending leads to an online Easter egg that lets you play another video game featured in Bandersnatch. Here’s what you need to know to unlock Colin Ritman’s Nohzdyve.
Nohzdyve (pronounced “nosedive”) is a video game being developed by your co-worker Colin (Will Poulter) during Bandersnatch — it’s also a not-so-subtle reference to one particular ending involving Colin, a balcony, and hallucinogenic drugs. Nohzdyve never gets released, but by achieving the right ending and then playing out an augmented reality game (ARG for short) you can download and play the fictional title for yourself.
The first thing you need to do is access a secret post-credits ending where the protagonist, Stefan Butler, returns to the early decision over what music he should listen to on his way to a job interview. Except this time, he pulls out a finished version of his game, Bandersnatch. Playing it only leads to white noise, but fans quickly realized that the grating audio was actually from the same type of ZX Spectrum computer that Stefan uses to make his game.
Playing the same audio through an emulator leads to a QR code, which in turn leads to a hidden page on the promotional website for Bandersnatch’s fictional video game company Tuckersoft. From there, you can download a playable version of Nohzdyve.
Thankfully, you can skip all those steps and just click on this link to go directly to the game and download it. (If Nohzdyve doesn’t show up try switching to another browser. The first time I tried it in Chrome it didn’t work, but switching to Safari fixed the problem.)
You’ll also have to download a ZX Spectrum emulator to actually play the game. I used this one for Mac, but there are plenty of other options for PC, Linux, and even mobile devices. Finally, open Nohzdyve using your emulator and you’re good to go.
That’s one more Bandersnatch secret solved, though we have a feeling there are plenty more still hiding under the surface.
