'Sabrina' Season 2 Spoilers: 7 Things We Learned From the Latest Teaser

What's going on in the Christmas Special?

Witchy things are afoot during the Winter Solstice in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and there are several hints hidden in a new batch of images from the upcoming holiday episode — and maybe even into Sabrina Season 2.

On Monday, Netflix announced the December release of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: A Midwinter’s Tale. Then on Tuesday, Netflix’s See What’s Next Twitter account shared several images from the upcoming episode offering an assortment of clues about what’s going on in the town of Greendale since Season 1 ended.

Check out the official episode synopsis, and read on for a breakdown of seven spoilers the latest Sabrina screenshots may have spilled.

“The Church of Night, like all covens, celebrates the Winter Solstice — the longest night of the year — when families gather around the Yule Fire to sing pagan carols and tell ghost stories. But the holidays are also a time for guests and visitors — both welcome and unwelcome — you never know what might come down the chimney…”

Sabrina is probably drinking a "wassail" here.

1. Sabrina Still Has Her White Hair and Sips a Wassail

A Midwinter’s Tale definitely picks up where the Season 1 finale left off because Sabrina is sporting her new icy-white hair.

Based on what we know so far about this festive celebration, the witches and warlocks in the Church of Night probably lock themselves inside overnight to avoid “unwelcome” visitors. In the brief scenes teased in that “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Netflix” teaser, Sabrina is seen holding some kind of hot beverage, as is Aunt Hilda, Aunt Zelda, Ambrose, and Luke. Is it mulled wine? Hot cider? Actually, that drink is probably a wassail.

Wassailing refers to a Yuletide tradition with witchy connotations and an alcoholic concoction. Recipes for a wassail vary wildly with different warming spices, but most include apple cider, cinnamon sticks, and an orange slice. So that matches what Sabrina is apparently drinking.

Could the “pagan carols” the witches sing also include “Here We Come A-wassailing”?

Aunt Hilda defends her cookies with a rolling pin.

2. Aunt Hilda Defends Against Kitchen Invaders With a Rolling Pin

Ever the consummate baker, Hilda Spellman seemingly spends at least some of A Midwinter’s Tale baking Christmas cookies for everyone to eat while they sip their wassails and binge Christmas movies. But given the tense nature of this particular photo, it seems like the Spellman home has to deal with some kind of “unwelcome” invaders coming down the chimney.

Are they this world’s version of elves?

Ambrose looking out over what's probably the main hall at the Academy of Unseen Arts.

3. Ambrose Spends at Least Some of the Holiday at the Academy of Unseen Arts

When Ambrose is at home, he’s hardly ever not in pajamas with his signature robe, so especially given the ornate statue in the background and his lingering probation, we can safely assume this particular photo happens in the Academy of Unseen Arts.

He’s looking out over some sort of balcony, probably down into the main lobby of the Academy where the satanic statue is located.

Is he spying on someone? Is it Sabrina or even Luke?

Ms. Wardwell and Sabrina remain in contact moving forward.

4. Sabrina At Least Visits Her Mortal School to See Ms. Wardwell

Despite manipulating our heroine into signing the Book of the Beast in the Season 1 finale, Miss Wardwell remains an ally to Sabrina. In this image, Wardwell wears a festive green dress while talking to Sabrina. (We know it’s ‘Brina based on the hair.)

But what’s Sabrina doing at her old school? The Season 1 finale made it seem like Sabrina gave up on her mortal life entirely to become a full witch. Either Sabrina is back at Greendale High School, she’s just going to see Wardwell for advice, or both.

Some have speculated Sabrina will use the Winter Solstice as the perfect time to attempt a seance to contact her mother, so maybe Wardwell helps with that?

Harvey Kinkle seems pretty bummed this Christmas.

Netflix

5. A Month After Losing His Girlfriend and Brother, Harvey Kinkle Is Depressed

Harvey looks positively distraught in one photo from what looks like his home. Not only does he have to live with just his cruel father these days, but Harvey’s beloved brother died not long after Thanksgiving. Then he broke up with Sabrina. So things aren’t going well for him.

More importantly, if Sabrina visits him after refusing to get back together in the Season 1 finale then something significant must be going on.

Zelda seems awfully concerned about something. Is it her new baby?

Netflix

6. Even Zelda’s Worried

Zelda Spellman looks crestfallen at the sight of something in her home. We can’t help but wonder if it has something to do with the Blackwood baby that she abducted in the Season 1 finale. If we know anything about the dynamic between Zelda and Hilda, then here, it looks like Hilda discovered something and is now showing it to Zelda. The eldest sister does not look happy.

This could mean anything, really, but it probably has something to do with the seance Sabrina tries to conduct on Winter Solstice.

Prudence could be casting some kind of ward in Sabrina's bedroom.

7. Prudence Joins the Spellmans for Winter Solstice

This one’s truly surprising. Prudence began Season 1 trying to legit curse Sabrina, but by the end they were reluctant allies and something close to frenemies. In the screenshot above, she’s definitely inside Sabrina’s bedroom. The wallpaper, decor, and bathroom in the background match what we saw in Season 1. (The angle isn’t all that different from the very first time we see Salem in his true form.)

It’s possible Prudence is using all the candles to cast some kind of protective ward and/or set things up for the impending seance. Using candles for magic on the Winter Solstice is common practice because the seasonal shift indicates the Sun is moving closer to Earth or, more accurately, the Earth is at the annual point in its revolution in which the distance between it and the Sun begins to decrease.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: A Midwinter’s Tale will be available to stream on Netflix Friday, December 14.
