'Rick and Morty' Soundtrack Trailer Shows Where Characters Go When They Die

Every one of these characters is dead.

We finally know what happens to Rick and Morty characters when they die because they’re all rounded up in a crowded karaoke bar to advertise the show’s official soundtrack. Conveniently, we also now know for sure that Beth totally killed the adult Tommy Lipkip in Froopyland.

Released on Friday, The Rick and Morty Soundtrack features 26 original songs with 24 of them appearing in the first three seasons of Rick and Morty. 18 of them were composed by the show’s music director Ryan Elder. To promote the release, Adult Swim shared a special trailer for the soundtrack via Twitter — and it only has dead characters in it.

Jemaine Clement’s Fart sings “Goodbye Moonmen” to the crowded bar. Fart is a gaseous being who originally appeared in the Season 2 episode “Mortynight Run,” but because he wanted to destroy all carbon-based life forms, Morty killed him. As the camera zooms out, we see the sad orange blob Rick killed before attempting suicide at the end of “Auto-Erotic Assimilation”, and the camera just keeps panning over more and more dead characters.

There are various Gromflomites, Council of Rick members, Dr. Xenon Bloom, and the Lighthouse Keeper Morty killed in “Look Who’s Purging Now,”.

The Zigerion Prince Nebulon, blown to smithereens by Rick during “M. Night Shaym-Aliens!,” is sitting next to the adult version of Beth’s childhood friend, Tommy Lipkip. Previously, we only really knew that Beth cut off his finger so that Rick could clone him in the real world, but it wasn’t clear if Beth actually killed him in Froopyland or not. Yet here he is, sitting in what’s probably Rick and Morty heaven or hell, not far from the totally dead King Jellybean that almost molested Morty in “Meeseeks and Destroy.”

Worldender is also there, toasting with a glass of champagne, a grim reminder that every person in this room died because of someone from the Smith-Sanchez family.

The Rick and Morty soundtrack is available now.
