‘Big Mouth’ Season 2 Release Time: Here's When It Hits Netflix Tonight

Unleash your inner Hormone Monster.

Puberty never looked so monstrous as it does in Netflix’s Big Mouth, and the crassly hilarious animated series from creators Nick Kroll, Andrew Goldberg, Mark Levin, and Jennifer Flackett continues into its second season very soon. Big Mouth Season 2 will be released on Netflix Friday, October 5. But exactly at what time can viewers watch more of their misadventures in Season 2?

Netflix operates from the west coast in the Pacific time zone, so when the streaming service activates a new show or movie at the stroke of midnight, it’s actually at 3 a.m. Eastern time. That means unless East coast viewers stay up really late, they’re better off waiting until sometime later in the day to watch.

Even if fans have to wait until later in the weekend, Big Mouth Season 2 is more than worth the wait. Season 1 introduced several different Hormone Monsters that follow the various characters, urging them through the most confusing time of their lives, and Season 2 expands these ideas even further.

The first teaser trailer revealed the release date for 'Big Mouth' Season 5 as October 5.

Netflix

Big Mouth still follows a group of tweens based on Kroll and Goldberg’s childhood in Westchester County, New York. The tall, bumbling, and totally horny Andrew (John Mulaney) is the focus of the story alongside the short, stunted, but totally suave Nick (Nick Kroll). Big Mouth explores the trials of going through puberty, with various aspects of their subconscious getting bizarre allegorical manifestations like the Hormone Monsters.

Season 2 feels even bolder and braver than the first. Despite focusing mostly on two boys as they stammer about boobs and one of them masturbates incessantly, Big Mouth also offers the female perspective from characters like Jessie and Missy. The former acts out as she struggles to manage her feelings regarding her parents’ divorce, while the latter confronts the shame she feels for her sexual urges.

If there’s a running theme for Season 2 it’s definitely shame, specifically how we learn to mitigate it as we move towards adulthood. In that way, Big Mouth manages to be Netflix’s most brazenly crass shows while also being one its most emotionally intelligent.

So Season 2 is definitely worth the wait, even if that means you can’t watch it right when it comes out.

Big Mouth Season 2 will be available to stream on Netflix starting October 5, 2018.
