'Wreck-It Ralph 2' Trailer Is Disney's Own, Princess-Filled 'Infinity War'
Of all the movies to venture the Disney multiverse, the sequel to Wreck-It Ralph probably isn’t the movie anyone expected. But that’s what’s happening in the trailer for Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2, where Ralph and Vanellope venture into the internet and explore everything from Star Wars to Marvel, and even meta-spoofs the tropes of the Disney princesses.
Wreck-It Ralph 2 is, effectively, Disney’s own Infinity War, just without Thanos.
On Monday, Disney released the second trailer for Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2, which despite its unwieldy nature is still the name for this movie. With returning stars John C. Reilly and Sarah Silverman, Wreck-It Ralph 2 follows Ralph (Reilly) and Vanellope (Silverman) as they venture into the internet. Yes, the internet, and in this new trailer, Amazon, Twitter, Snapchat, Weibo, and even MySpace (dwarfed by Facebook) all make “cameo” appearances. It’s probably for the best that Ralph and Vanellope don’t see 4chan and PornHub.
Furthermore, the trailer reveals that Vanellope and Ralph enter a digitized “multiverse” of all things Disney. Halfway through the trailer, Vanellope asks a “Searchbar” for the craziest place on the internet, and the two avatars are brought to Disney blog Oh My Disney, where they’re greeted by Iron Man flying by and hostile First Order Stormtroopers. Soon, Vanellope ends up in a green room for the Disney princesses, and, well, you just have to see the scene for yourself. I can’t transcribe every joke. It’s that good.
What a crossover.
The actual plot of Wreck-It Ralph 2 remains vague, as it’s unclear why Vanellope and Ralph jump from their arcade cabinets and into the internet. You can also bet the movie will gloss over unseemly corners like the deep web, or Zack Snyder fans on Twitter. Still, the “Disney Multiverse” is the most fun thing about the trailer. But for me, I’m just bummed the Power Rangers won’t be around.
Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 hits theaters on November 21.
