Yodeling Walmart Kid Mason Ramsey Lands Coachella Performance
All eyes are on his next show.
Mason Ramsey may have scored one of the biggest shows of his life. The Yodeling Walmart Kid shot to international fame last month after his rendition of “Lovesick Blues” went viral. On Friday, it emerged the 11-year-old sensation from Golconda, Illinois, may perform at the three-day Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival taking place both this weekend and next weekend in Indio, California.
TMZ reports that the yodeler is in high demand after the meme’s soaring popularity, with numerous artists clamoring to feature Ramsey as part of their set. Ramsey is expected to first perform with Whethan, a DJ scheduled to perform on Friday at 2:45 p.m. local time, and it looks like the yodeler will also collaborate with Post Malone during his Saturday performance. Unfortunately for Post Malone, Ellen DeGeneres announced during her show this week that Ramsey will be performing at the Grand Ole Opry this Saturday, which means the Coachella collaboration will likely take place on April 21 during the second three-day event.

It’s little surprise Ramsey is in high demand. His fame has earned him a $15,000 scholarship, a spot at one of country music’s most revered regular events, and a ticketed performance at the same Walmart. Two Major League Baseball players chose his rendition as a walk-up song, and fans worldwide have created memes about him. Hank Williams’s 1949 rendition of “Lovesick Blues” even entered the Spotify Global Viral 50 music chart at number 22, alongside the likes of Azealia Banks and The Weeknd (the latter of which is headlining Coachella on Friday).
It’s been a whirlwind of fame, but Ramsey already had a strong name for himself in his hometown. Artists performing during their tours would ask Ramsey to open the show, and he’s performed for big names like Kenny Rogers, Gene Watson, and the Bellamy Brothers. He regularly performs at the Kentucky Opry in Draffenville, and his performance of “I Saw the Light” at a recent show earned him a standing ovation.
Ramsey has talked about his dream of performing at the Grand Ole Opry so he can grow in fame, save some money, go to college, and move to Florida. All eyes are on his performance when he takes the stage on April 14.
