'Rick and Morty' Have a Schwifty Cameo on Logic's New Mixtape

The duo's musical careers just got a huge boost.

Logic’s latest mixtape features renowned musical artists like Wiz Khalifa and 2 Chainz, but also the unlikely talents of Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith. That’s right, the dynamic duo from Rick and Morty just made their official debut in the music industry, and it wasn’t even for “Get Schwifty.”

Hip-hop artist Logic released a new mixtape on Friday called Bobby Tarantino II, and the very first track features Rick and Morty bickering about the subtle variations at play in Logic’s music. Rick preferes “mixtape Logic” over “album Logic,” but by the end, Rick screams, “Drop that shit in my fucking spaceship, Spaceship!”

Sure enough, his Spaceship fucking drops it, kicking off 12 hardcore Logic tracks that expertly fuse trap music with boom-bap rap tunes.

This first track was originally released in video form on Logic’s YouTube channel in the middle of last week to tease the mixtape’s release. At first, it seemed like the “Grandpas Spaceship” video might be little more than a promotional stunt, but Rick and Morty are a legit part of the mixtape.

Track 1 is called “Grandpa’s Space Ship,” so you know it’s legit.

It’s almost a shame that Rick and Morty don’t get to do more on the tape beyond hype it up on a non-musical intro track. If Logic had remixed the original “Get Schwifty” song from Rick and Morty’s Season 2 episode of the same name, that would have been even more dope. Maybe on the next album?

At least we do get Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland delivering the authentic voices for each character, which is a welcome thing to hear while the show is on hiatus. As always, Logic has a great sense of humor as evidenced by Rick and Morty’s inclusion. The mixtape has other fun cameos like Logic’s lawyer Paul Rothenberg chiming in to say, “I hereby ratify and confirm that Logic is motherfuckin’ paid.” We’re sure Rick and Morty totally appreciate a stunt like that.

So when’s the Rick and Morty mixtape coming out? Maybe Logic can deliver a hype-up opening track for that.

Bobby Tarantino II is out now wherever you get your mixtapes, and Rick and Morty will return with Season 4 eventually.
