'The Kominsky Method' Season 2: Release Date, Trailer, Spoilers, and Everyt

The Netflix original cleaned up at the Golden Globe Awards.

Netflix has an award-winning series in its half-hour comedy from Chuck Lorre, The Kominsky Method. If you haven’t checked out the first season yet, maybe the show’s Golden Globe sweep for Best Television Series (Musical or Comedy) and Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series (Musical or Comedy) for Michael Douglas will change your mind.

After those successes, fans understandably want to see more of the series, so here’s everything we know about a (potential) Season 2, including when we could get a trailer, a possible release date, and a possible episode count.

Spoilers for Season 1 of The Kominsky Method ahead.

What Happens at the End of The Kominsky Method Season 1?

The Netflix comedy follows actor Sandy Kominsky (Douglas) and his longtime agent, Norman Newlander (Alan Arkin) in their later years in Los Angeles. The titles comes from Kominsky’s acting class.

At the end of the season, flees his home when it becomes filled with visions of his dead wife, mother, and grandmother and ends up wandering through the streets of LA at night. When Sandy picks his friend up at the police station, Norman

wanders off in the middle off the night. Norman claims he simply him he took a walk to clear his head after having too much to drink but admitted he thought he might be losing his mind. Then Sandy assured him he wasn’t alone.

Will There Be a Season 2?

We don’t know. Given the series’ success at award shows, it would be surprising to see it end after only one season.

In addition to the two Golden Globe wins mentioned above, The Kominsky Method won the AFI Award for TV Program of the Year. It also received three Screen Actors Guild Award nominations: individual acknowledgements for Arkin and Douglas, as well as an ensemble recognition.

According to Deadline, Netflix and Warner Bros. TV, the studio that produces the series, have been talking about bringing the series back, but it comes down to the number of episodes, with the streaming service interested in a bigger Season 2.

That does sound like a renewal is very likely, so for now, all we can do is wait and see what happens.

When Is the Season 2 Release Date?

Season 1 was released on November 16, 2018. If there is a Season 2, it’s possible that it will be released in the fall as well. Netflix generally releases new shows and movies on Friday, so it’s possible The Kominsky Method could return on November 15.

Its release date could also depend on how many episodes there are in Season 2, so we may have a better idea once we have that information.

When Will a Season 2 Trailer Be Released?

Netflix released the Season 1 trailer on October 12, one month before the episodes dropped. So if there is a Season 2, it’s likely that Netflix will follow the same pattern.

However, now that people are talking about the series, if it is renewed, it’s likely Netflix will drop a teaser or two as well, which could arrive even sooner, perhaps to announce the pickup.

How Many Episodes Will There Be in Season 2? wants to tell.

“It’s wonderful to no have time limits. Thirty-two minutes, 28 minutes, just tell a good story,” he told Variety in November. “The story can flow without having a break. When you put eight episodes out all at once, they’re like chapters in a book.”

That means it’s possible that the episode count and length may change for a possible Season 2, depending on the story that Lorre wants to tell and what Netflix wants.

According to Deadline, the streaming service would like there to be more than eight episodes in Season 2. It’s possible that there could be somewhere between 10 and 13 episodes, though according to the outlet, Douglas would prefer not to do as many as 13.

Season 1 ended with Norman deciding he needed to figure out the “deeper meaning” of life and answers to the big questions (“Who am I?” and “Why am I here?”). He considered religion, but “the whole God thing puts [him] off,” and helping others was hard because it was hard for him to like other people, including family.

Season 2 could explore that, but it’s unclear if that would be the case.

For now, we can only wait to see if the series is renewed and what could happen in Season 2.

The Kominsky Method Season 1 is now streaming on Netflix.
