The Only Thing Anyone Knows for Sure Is There's a Silicon Valley Easter Egg in Google's Alphabet Announcment

Or maybe that should be Alphabet's Google announcement.

Google is now but one hydra head under a giant umbrella company known as Alphabet. Larry Page is CEO of Alphabet. Sundar Pichai will take his place. As corporate restructurings go, it makes sense — Google has grown into a technological behemoth in both the physical and digital realms. Sure, we have plenty of questions: Why now? Why Alphabet? Could they not buy alphabet.com or @alphabet? Is there an alpha-bet to see how long they won’t be evil? What is Alphabet?

What is Alphabet? Alphabet is mostly a collection of companies. The largest of which, of course, is Google. This newer Google is a bit slimmed down, with the companies that are pretty far afield of our main internet products contained in Alphabet instead. What do we mean by far afield? Good examples are our health efforts: Life Sciences (that works on the glucose-sensing contact lens), and Calico (focused on longevity). Fundamentally, we believe this allows us more management scale, as we can run things independently that aren’t very related.

The only truth left in this world is that Brin or Page or someone at Google/Alphabet is a Silicon Valley fan, and that people click on every part of websites:

For the lazy crowd: It takes you here.
