'Stranger Things' Season 3 Release Date Revealed in New Trailer and Poster

"One summer can change everything."

Netflix has given fans of its iconic sci-fi horror series Stranger Things something to be immediately grateful for in 2019. The long-awaited trailer revealing the release date for Season 3 has arrived. Eleven and the crew will be back in action on July 4, 2019.

Monday night, the streaming service announced the premier via a fictional New Year’s ball drop from Hawkins, Indiana and an accompanying poster. Right before the clock struck midnight, the footage slowly began to turn upside down — a nod to the shows terrifying alternate dimension. The poster features Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and Will (Noah Schnapp) ominously staring at an approaching creature seen at the bottom of the image. The top of the flyer reads “One summer can change everything,” which teases the big shifts that Cindy Holland, Netflix’s VP of original content, said were coming to the show after months of delays.

“Well, it’s a hand-crafted show,” she said in July. “You know, the Duffer brothers and Shawn Levy have worked really hard and they understand the stakes are high. They want to deliver something bigger and better than what they did last year.”

Even more mysteriously, the trailer has a hidden message that states “When blue and yellow meet in the the west.” It’s still unclear as to what this could mean, but Eleven is wearing a blue shirt and Mike is wearing a yellow shirt in the poster. Could this suggest Hawkins will suffer a cataclysmic event if the two protagonists meet up like they are in the picture?

For now it’s too early to tell how this could affect the plot but the mystery shrouding Stranger Things Season 3 has begun to lift.

A date has been set. The gang might face its biggest challenge to date and sci-fi buffs will be able to binge it starting mid-summer.
