'Stranger Things' Season 3 Release Date: Trailer or Teaser Could Drop Soon

Fans may have to wait until summer 2019 for Stranger Things Season 3’s release date, but new information, including a teaser or trailer, could be coming a lot sooner. There’s reason to believe we could be getting new images, details, and even a trailer, in the near future. Here’s why you can expect to learn more about Stranger Things Season 3 very soon.

The cast and creators are scheduled for appearances as soon this weekend. So it’s possible we’ll get at least some fresh information about Season 3, whether through interviews or a teaser.

First, creators Matt and Ross Duffer will be presenting at The Game Awards, which streams live on Thursday, December 6. The focus of the event will be on video games, but with a rumored Stranger Things game allegedly scuttled by the bankruptcy of Telltale Games, we’re not sure what the Duffers will reveal. Maybe we’ll learn which video game the Stranger Things gang obsesses over in Season 3.

This weekend, the Netflix series will also have a presence at a Comic-Con in Brazil, CCXP. Scheduled to appear are Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas Sinclair), Noah Schnapp (Will Byers), and Sadie Sink (Max Mayfield). While whoever is present may not be able to say much about the new season, we could still learn something.

It was at Heroes Dutch Comic-Con that Gaten Matarazzo talked about the series’ future, citing Season 4 or 5 as a possible endpoint for the show. He also teased “new threats” beyond the Mind Flayer.

There are also several “Stranger Cons,” hosted by Creation Entertainment, coming up in 2019, including one in Secaucus, New Jersey, on May 4 and 5. Perhaps by then, any actors in attendance will be able to offer more information about the upcoming season.

Will there be a 'Stranger Things' Season 3 teaser during the Super Bowl like in 2017?

Netflix

The Super Bowl is also quickly approaching, and it’s very likely we’ll get a Season 3 teaser then — just like we did for Season 2 in 2017. Don’t expect too much from that preview (the Season 2 spot was only 30 seconds long). But it’s possible that if we don’t have a Stranger Things Season 3 release date by February we’ll get one at the Super Bowl.

As for the official trailer, that likely won’t be released until closer to the Season 3 premiere. With a summer 2019 premiere, San Diego Comic-Con in July 2019 could be the perfect stage to make that announcement.

Stranger Things Season 3 will be available on Netflix in summer 2019.
