'Fortnite' Season 6 Might've Just Gotten a Huge Delay, New Leak Claims

Fortnite: Battle Royale Season 5 is past the halfway point, and Epic Games already began the ramp up to conclude the season’s storyline. A new leak shows the developer may have altered its plans as the original date for the conclusion of Season 5 appears to be moved back.

Data miner FNBRLeakers tweeted Wednesday about a change for the end of Fortnite: Battle Royale Season 5. In the game files, a date listed as “seasonEnd” shows up as “2018-10-2” or October 2. This is different than the original end of the season scheduled for September 24.

If this is a change to the end of Fortnite: Battle Royale Season 5, then it could be attributed to a couple of different reasons. The first explanation is the delay that happened this week and last week. Epic changed the release of the v5.30 patch and Weekly Challenges to the end of this week while last week saw a delay to v.5.21. This could push back the rest of the upcoming updates thus causing the season end to fall a week behind.

Another possible reason is that Epic will begin preparation for what will be an incredibly competitive holiday season. With games like Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, Battlefield V, and Red Dead Redemption 2, the developer’s stranglehold on the industry may loosen a bit especially considering two of these major franchises will come out with their own battle royale modes.

As the case with leaks from data miners, this date could still change. Players will have to wait until September to see when Epic decides to send Fortnite: Battle Royale Season 5 and start on Season 6.

Along with the date change for the next update and Weekly Challenges for this week, Epic scheduled a new storyline event set to take place on Friday. This would be the second for the season after Sunday’s return of the Tomato Head in Tomato Town.
