Owners of the Tesla Model 3S can expect better voice commands and more easily noticed blindspot notifications within the next few months, CEO Elon Musk announced on Twitter. The plan is to roll out the new updates with the V8.2 software upgrade.

The upgrades will enable rear passengers to request songs on the Tesla app and make it easier for drivers to document and submit issues with their cars.

Musk reminded customers that they can already report bugs or request new features using the vehicle’s voice command, but also said there would be a new feature to make it easier to document and report hard-to-describe issues — for example, a rattling sound.

Consumer Reports Tesla Upgrade

Tesla has often earned praise for its ability to make upgrades to the driving experience through the use of “over the air” software upgrades. On Wednesday, Consumer Reports upgraded its rating on the Tesla Model 3 after a remote update was able to improve the car’s breaking performance.

Before the update, Consumer Reports decided not to recommend the Model 3 after its road testing indicated subpar breaking performance. After the upgrade, CR found that the stop time had improved by almost 20 feet, surprising the publication’s director of auto testing.

“I’ve been at CR for 19 years and tested more than 1,000 cars,” Jake Fisher, director of auto testing at Consumer Reports said in the company’s announcement. “I’ve never seen a car that could improve its track performance with an over-the-air update.”
