'Star Wars Episode 9' Trailer Release Date, Title Coming Soon, Actor Teases

Last week, C-3PO actor Anthony Daniels tweeted an emotional goodbye to Star Wars after filming his last scene on the Episode IX set. But on Monday, Daniels returned to Twitter to tease some very exciting news coming very soon. Could it be the Star Wars: Episode IX title reveal? Or even the trailer release date? Anything seems possible.

“How strange,” Daniels tweeted. “I am receiving images of something amazing coming towards us - travelling over decades through space and time - reaching out to all humans on this planet with its message. What could it be? Should I be afraid? Should you? Stay tuned.”

This cryptic message seems to suggest that something very big is coming soon, possibly as early as tomorrow morning. Considering that Daniels primarily tweets about Star Wars, it seems likely this has something to do with Episode IX. We’re expecting a title reveal soon, but the word “images” suggests that we could get some actual footage, if not a full-length trailer.

Daniels isn’t the first Star Wars actor to tease Episode IX news on Twitter recently either. Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) recently joked about the movie’s title, sharing a screenshot from an old Futurama episode that included a gag title for the upcoming movie: Star Wars: Episode IX — Yoda’s Bar Mitzvah.

Still, the promise of possible Star Wars: Episode IX news comes as a legitimate surprise. After the Super Bowl came and went without an official trailer, most fans assumed we wouldn’t see any footage until the official Star Wars Celebration in April. Now, however, it looks like we could get a first look at Episode IX (or at least the title) a whole lost sooner.

Stay tuned!

Star Wars: Episode IX hits theaters on December 20, 2019.
