'Avengers 4: Endgame' Trailers Won't Spoil the Movie's "Many, Many Secrets"

Here’s some good news for all you spoilerphobes out there. You don’t have to worry about Avengers: Endgame trailers spoiling the movie, at least according to Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige.

Fans may be able to look back at previous MCU films and find Easter eggs that hint at future events, but don’t expect to be able to read too much into the marketing materials for Avengers: Endgame. Feige confirmed that it’s “somewhat accurate” to assume that promotional items won’t show much beyond the first 15 or 20 minutes of Avengers: Endgame in an interview with MTV News on the Golden Globes red carpet.

“Being able to generate excitement without giving away any of the many, many, many, many secrets will be ideal,” Feige said. “And I think the Disney marketing team is the best in the world and we’ll be able to pull it off.”

That shouldn’t be much of a surprise, given what we see in the first official trailer. The time spent on Tony Stark “adrift in space with zero promise of rescue” recording a message for Pepper should tell you that they’re being very careful about what they show in these videos.

So while there are trailers and promos for movies and television shows that may sometimes show a shot from the climax or final scene (albeit out of context), don’t expect to necessarily have that happen with Avengers: Endgame.

However, given Feige’s “somewhat accurate” quote, it is possible that one of the shots of one of the characters who are still alive could be from later in the film.

Feige also addressed the matter of the film’s title. Yes, directors Joe and Anthony Russo lied about it, but Marvel knew it would be Endgame before production even began. That’s why Doctor Strange said, “We’re in the endgame now” in Avengers: Infinity War.

That title “was in place before we started developing the movie, or just as we were developing it,” Feige told MTV News. “Doctor Strange says that line because we knew it was the title.”

Ok, but what about when Iron Man says “endgame” in Age of Ultron? Explain that Kevin.

Avengers: Endgame will be in theaters on April 26.
