Another Defender Is Joining 'Luke Cage' for Season 2

Netflix

The Heroes for Hire might be taking to the streets of New York City in 2018. For better or worse, Danny Rand’s Iron Fist (Finn Jones) is joining in on Luke Cage Season 2.

As reported by Entertainment Weekly in an article published Wednesday, Danny will join Luke Cage (Mike Colter) for at least one scene in Season 2 of Luke Cage.

The evidence is in a photo from Season 2, which depicts Luke bemusedly looking down at Danny and probably delivering some sort of clever one-liner. Last time anyone saw Danny and Luke was at the end of Netflix’s superhero team-up extravaganza, The Defenders. After Daredevil’s (Charlie Cox) non-death, Luke returned to defend Harlem and Danny, donned in a yellow-and-green tracksuit reminiscent of the character’s classic comics getup, vowed to help protect the streets of NYC.

Luke and Danny potentially teaming up is a bit of a homage to the Heroes for Hire, the famous Marvel Comics team-up between Luke Cage and Iron Fist. Later included in the Heroes for Hire were some heroes who have now become Marvel Cinematic Universe heavyweights, including Natasha Romanoff’s Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), T’Challa’s Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), Sam Wilson’s Falcon (Anthony Mackie), and Peter Parker’s Spider-Man (Tom Holland).

Other Netflix Marvel heroes who are canonically part of the Heroes for Hire include Frank Castle’s Punisher (Jon Bernthal), Misty Knight (Simone Missick), and Elektra (Elodie Yung). Who knows, maybe they’ll have some more to add to Season 2.

Luke Cage Season 2 premieres on Netflix in 2018.
