Rosario Dawson's Claire Temple Won't Be in a Netflix Marvel Show

Netflix

All of the heroes of Netflix’s Marvel shows are going to come together in the upcoming The Defenders, but there’s one character who already has a perfect attendance record: Rosario Dawson’s Claire Temple. The former nurse and certified badass has already helped out Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist, but Dawson confirmed that she’s going to break her streak for the upcoming Punisher series.

The Daredevil spin-off, which is expected the debut on the streaming service at some point this year, will star Jon Bernthal reprising his role as the gun-toting vigilante. Dawson recently revealed that she won’t be joining him, even for a cameo. The reason? Scheduling problems. Here’s how she put it:

“At the end of the day, it’s really hard to get all of those casts together. For The Defenders, it was difficult to get everybody together. People are busy! There are so many times where I really want it to happen. I really wanted to do a cameo on The Punisher, but it doesn’t always work that way.”

Perhaps it’s okay. The Punisher’s whole shtick is that he doesn’t just beat up criminals, he murders them. Having a trained medical professional on hand to help hemorrhage some of the bleeding to save some lives just isn’t really his style.

The Defenders, which will feature Dawson’s Claire Temple, premieres on August 18, 2017. The Punisher doesn’t have an exact release date yet, but it’s also expected to release in 2017.
